Course Summary / 課程簡介

In this course, we will explore a selection of American poems by well-known poets such as Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, and Edna St. Vincent Millay. We will spend most of our time taking about meaning and discussing. We won’t worry about grammar too much. You also will learn how to identify elements of poetry such as metaphors, themes, and rhythm- elements that are common not only in poetry, but also other literature, music, movies and sometimes found in everyday spoken English.

Tina將要帶領大家探索艾米莉•迪金森(Emily Dickinson)，羅伯特•佛洛斯特 (Robert Frost)，埃德娜•聖文森特·米勒(Edna St. Vincent Millay)等美國有名詩人所出的一系列經典詩集作品。課程內容主要是深入瞭解其作品意義，不會特別強調英語文法。除了意義之外，也會學到一些基本的詩句及其他文學作品(音樂、電影)中所使用的專有寫作元素，如：隱喻、主題、韻律…等等。

Preparation / 課程準備

Poems and short biographies of the poets will be assigned a week in advance to preview before each class. After class, I’ll give a short writing assignment (a poetry reflection) as homework for everyone to share during the next class.

在每堂課程開始的一周前，Tina會提供學生們必須先行自習的詩集還有簡短的作者介紹。課程結束後也會有寫作功課，功課內容為閱讀感想，目的是讓學生們下次上課時可以互相分享。

關於教師 Tina

Tina 來自美國路易斯安那州的小鎮。熱愛閱讀的她在大學的主修課程選擇了文學系。大學文憑則來自路易斯安那州立大學。過去在藍月的兩年當中，Tina 透過英語教學分享她對英語的熱情；她也非常享受幫忙解決他人問題時所帶來的快樂，所以成為英語教師是個讓她非常滿足的職業 。Tina 大多數的課程都與社會學還有人文有關係，若有興趣不妨加入 Tina 一起成長吧！
